Creates visual assets needed for the Office of Public Affairs (OPA) team, including all video recording, video editing, lead photographer for all events and portraits, and lead photo editor. Works with OPA team on vision and execution of needs for website, social media, internal communications, paid media, and various events; When applicable, coordinates and oversees success of live streams of events by working with OIT to ensure technology is equipped to handle needs.
Serves as the lead photographer for SCDPS, which includes all photography needs for internal and external communications, including preparation and vision for photo shoots, execution of photo shoots and editing of photos within quick turnaround. Works in conjunction with OPA staff to develop and promote a cohesive brand and message for the department.
Serves as the lead videographer for SCDPS, which includes all recordings for internal and external videos (PSAs) and all editing of that material. Responsible for all script writing, storyboarding of PSAs, identifying of shot lists and other logistics needed for video shoots. Must be able to export for appropriate sizing requirements for website, social media and for internal communications; Works in conjunction with OPA staff to develop and promote a cohesive brand and message for the department.
Maintains all OPA equipment to proper condition and oversees inventory of these assets. This includes but isn't limited to testing of equipment, cleaning of equipment, consistent organization of storage areas, photo area and DPS Studio. Responsible for maintaining organized file management of all projects assigned, including organization of individual portraits by correct name spelling, etc.
Assists with other OPA duties as requested, including but not limited to planning logistics/coverage for all visual needs required at an event.
State Minimum Requirements - A high school diploma and relevant experience. An associate degree or a bachelor’s degree in a related field may substitute for the required work experience.
Agency Additional Requirements
Experience in capturing and editing of video, capturing and editing of event photography, professional portraits, creation of assets needed for website, social media, internal communications and events including overseeing livestream of events.
Should have strong video and photography skills, from photo shoots to editing capabilities, including Adobe Photo Shop and Lightroom. Premiere Pro and other Adobe Creative programs. Animation experience is a bonus. This is a highly technical position with diverse media. Must be able to collaborate and coordinate with several departments and divisions within SCDPS for execution of visual projects assigned.
Limited supervision. Must be able to collaborate with others while executing vision and branding requirements of agency. Needs to have close eye for details like spelling and grammar within visual elements created. Must be able to track multiple projects to ensure deadlines are met. Must be an organized, time-efficient, collaborative professional with good written and verbal communication.
Must be able to carry camera/video equipment and walk to and around assignments throughout the state. Some after hours or weekend work may be required particularly during emergency weather situations and special events.
