Job Title: Information Specialist IVJob Description:The Information Specialist supports the Utah Division of Water Rights' mission by creating and distributing information that tells the division's story in order to educate and inform the public, news media and other stakeholders. This is done through social media, videos, newsletters, press releases and other communications tactics. This role reports to division communication program manager and supports the development of effective communication goals, strategies, tactics and messages.
Principal Duties:- Writes and edits fact sheets, news releases, newsletter articles, correspondence and other communication materials with AP Style.
- Creates content for the division's website and various social media platforms.
- Utilizes graphic design, photography and video-editing skills to produce visually appealing presentations, slides, digital content, printed materials and infographics with adherence to effective branding practices.
- Manages requests from the media, facilitates media relations efforts, drafts responses and collaborates with division and department staff to deliver media messaging.
Ideal Candidate:- Ability to produce work with a high level of detail and accuracy.
- Ability to quickly understand, research and produce messaging on complex issues including legislation, water law, engineering practices, policies & procedures.
- Proficiency in developing social media content, strategy and metrics.
- Proficiency in website content creation and database management using WordPress and custom CMS Tools used by the division.

- Writing and editing.
- Creating slide presentations.
- Creating social media content or managing social media.
Preferred Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, English, writing, digital media or film, or closely related field.
- Experience using graphic design tools (i.e., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
- Experience with photography, video production and editing.
- Web development, web design, web programming, database management.
- Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
- Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
