Duties Description Under the supervision of the Public Information Officer, the Public Information Specialist 2 will be responsible supervising, training and assisting employees that will serve as the public’s initial point of contact with the Gaming Commission. The incumbent will be responsible for receiving, logging, responding to, and routing (where appropriate), all external inquiries to the Gaming Commission’s primary phone numbers. The incumbent will address escalated calls that require additional assistance and provide excellent customer service to those contacting the Commission. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: • Assist and supervise Customer Service Unit staff in response to public inquiries to the Commission.• Maintain a detailed log of all public inquiries to ensure proper routing and timely response• Build and maintain a knowledgebase of frequently asked questions with standardized and accurate responses• Work with the Public Information Office and agency staff to proactively identify issues that may result in public inquiries, develop appropriate responses, and train staff to effectuate when contacted by the public. • Work with the Public Information Office and agency staff to address escalated inquiries. Follow-up, as needed, on outstanding inquires.• Maintain details, statistics and summaries regarding the volume and nature of public inquires.• Perform the duties of the Customer Service Unit staff as required.The Public Information Specialist 2 will also support to the Public Information Office’s day-to-day operations, including but not limited to: writing and issuing press releases; fielding, researching and responding to inquiries; managing the Commission’s social media accounts; updating the Commission’s websites; coordinating public events; and other communication initiatives.
